A New Mama Plan: Time, Money, Children

Our New Year's Sign hanging from our breakfast room chandelier welcoming in 2010. I cut these letters out using my Sizzex machine (one of my favorite "toys") LaLa enjoyed glueing them on and trying to 'find' the letter as I made its sound for to put together each word...teachable moment that she didn't even notice! Our sign added a nice, child-friendly addition to our dinner on New Years Eve!

Hello, 2010! Can you believe it is 2010 already? I can't. The New Year always gets me thinking and analyzing everything. I step back and revaluate...maybe a bit too much! We started off the New Year in the mountains of north Georgia in a beautiful cabin nestled between moutains and a small creek. It was relaxing and beautiful...plenty of time for my mind to continue its New Year evaluations. My favorite part of the trip? Well, gettting away to enjoy family, of course, but let me just tell you...the HUGE amazing tub that even heated while you were in it was a close second!

I'm excited about lots of new ideas and plans for my mama drama blog this upcoming year! I figured that we have 365 days ahead of us this year. There are so many opportunities to improve ourselves and make our homes and families happier! The three things (whether we want to admit or not) that we, mamas, worry the most about are usually time, money, and our children. That is what I am going to focus on in my mama world and in my blog because honestly....that is what we all need extra help in especially with the economy and being pulled in multiple directions!

I hope as I experiment, learn, and share new ideas to save money and time as a mama (and as a woman) that it will help you, as well as me, become happier and more able to enjoy my children! I will still share our drama in our house...just for fun...because I know it always makes me feel less crazy and a little more sure of my own mama drama when I can laugh and shake my head at someone elses! Hopefully, our drama will do the same for you!

Mama Plan for 2010...Saving Time and Money...and Enjoying my Children!
This week: Need to get your children to eat? I have cheap, creative, and sneaky ideas! Shhh..don't tell my children...or my husband!

Mama New Year's Resolution...#2 and #3

My second Mama NYR is to reduce the time that I spend on the computer and on the phone. Now, my friends would probably laugh at this stamement because I am hard to catch on the phone, and I rarely check messages. However, how many times do I have to say, "not now mommy is on the phone or working on the computer"? The only time I do talk is usually in the car. My girls will be watching a dvd in the car or listening to music while I have a precious quiet moment to talk on the phone. I need to work on a balance. I hope to work on incorporating my girls into my phone and computer time rather than letting these two wonderful pieces of technology take precious time away from my two even more wonderful girls!

My third Mama NYR is to make sure my girls watch less television. Television is such a time trap, but less face it...it can be a great distraction for your kids when you are desperately trying to get something accomplished! I was one of those when I first had LaLa that said I would NEVER, EVER let her watch anything but educational things! Does PBS Sprout count as educational? I also tend to leave the television on as background throughout the day...I need to be more creative, huh?

Check back tomorrow for my last two Mama New Year Resolutions! Next week, I will be posting our fun New Year Activities...yummy 2010 pancakes, my edible hat...umm...experiment in the works, and more! Enjoy your New Year's Eve!

Mama Drama Rule #96: Use New Years as an opportunity to look back and figure out what worked and didn't work. Then, begin an entire new year ready to start over...better, smarter, and refreshed!

Mama New Year's Resolutions...#1

My Mama New Year's Resolutions....
the new year's resolutions that I made to be a better parent...a better mommy...in 2010.

My first, Mama New Year Resolution (NYR) is to focus on what's important. The little distractions in life that takes my attention or create anxiety are not where I should have my focus.

What's important to me, as a parent?
My relationship with God, my husband, my children, my family and my friends...in that order. If it gets out of order, it can often result in a domino effect.
Now, when I'm fretting over something else, I hope to be reminded that...it's not where my focus is suppose to be in 2010!

Check back the next few days to see my other Mama New Year's Resolutions...

Mama Drama Rule #95: New Year's Resolutions must change in your heart and your mind!Otherwise, they become worthless!
